What is GEO

Privacy, plainly.

Last updated: 17 September 2026 (added the section on first-party analytics and the switch to turn it off).

Here's the plain version: whatisgeo.app is published by Adapt Progress Evolve Limited. Registered in England and Wales, company no. 10047328, registered office 5 Brayford Square, London E1 0SG. VAT GB362654684. If you've got questions about this notice or want to exercise any of the rights below, email hello@whatisgeo.app or use the contact route on https://adaptprogressevolve.com/.

Signup uses email only. Nothing else is asked for, nothing else is needed.

We use Resend to send confirmation messages and manage newsletter contacts. When you sign up, you'll get an email asking you to confirm. Until you confirm on the linked page, you're not subscribed. Confirmation links expire after 24 hours. Temporary signup records are automatically scheduled for deletion after that period. Confirmed newsletter contacts remain in Resend until they are no longer needed.

Cloudflare hosts and serves this site, and also handles rate limiting to stop abuse. That means your IP address gets seen in the process. The signup service uses it to limit repeated requests. It is not added to your newsletter contact. Cloudflare's own privacy policy covers what it does on its side: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.

Consent for the newsletter is collected at signup, and every message includes an unsubscribe option. Simple as that.

Your browser's localStorage is used for two things: remembering whether you picked light or dark theme, and remembering if you turned analytics off (below). Nothing else lives there.

Analytics, first-party and anonymous. To see whether the guide gets read, this site records a small set of events on our own domain: which page was viewed, how far down it was scrolled, roughly how long it was visible, clicks on outbound links, the site a visitor arrived from, the country Cloudflare reports, and whether a signup succeeded. What is never recorded: your IP address, your user-agent string, any cookie, or the email address you type. A random per-tab id groups one visit's events and is forgotten when the tab closes. No advertising tools and no third-party analytics. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, nothing is recorded at all; and there is a switch at the bottom of this page to turn analytics off for this browser.

One more thing we record: when a request comes from a known AI system or search crawler (identified by its user-agent string), we log the page it fetched, that user-agent string, the country and the time, so we can see which AI systems actually read this guide. That log holds no IP addresses and nothing about people using a normal browser. Fair enough to ask, so we're saying it plainly.

We keep data only as long as it's needed: to run the subscription, to handle opt-outs or abuse, and to meet any legal obligations that apply.

Resend's own privacy policy is here: https://resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Want to access, correct, or delete your data, or withdraw consent? Email hello@whatisgeo.app, or contact us through Adapt Progress Evolve's contact route above.
